Green Tea Oil

Green tea oil is sometimes confused with tea tree oil. These are two very different products, coming from completely different plants.Green tea oil is made from a pressing process of the the green tea shrub's seeds which have been dried, the Latin name for theshrub or small treebeing Camellia sinensis.

The seeds after being removed from the plant is allowed to air dry and once completely dried, they are pressed to produce a clear golden yellow oil, similar in appearance to a vegetable oil. At this stage the oil can not be used yet, it contains saponin which can cause foaming when in contact with water so it must be removed. The oil is refined next, removing the saponin, fatty acids and is bleached to remove impurities. The saponin can go on to be used in pharmaceutical needs while the cleansed oil goes on for many purposes. After the cleansing process is finished, the green tea oil can be used for various products, ranging from cooking oils to placement in cosmetics. If the saponin is not removed properly during the refinement process, it can be toxic to consume and is not suitable as a cooking oil or ingesting through other methods, unlike the beverage made from green tea leaves which is nontoxic and very beneficial. Green tea cooking oil is a favorite in Southern China for its high temperature resistance and is relatively free of odors or taste.

Oil from the seeds of the green tea plant has been used for thousands of years, just like green tea, as a source of healing and repair for the body. Green tea oil contents are rich in antioxidants, such as Vitamin E and polyphenol. Some research has suggested that regular usage of the oil may reduce the oxidation of cells and bad cholesterol levels. This helps the body to protect itself against free radicals that allow damage to occur in the body. Professional masseurs use green tea oil often in their practice to apply added rejuvenationto the client's body and at the same time it is known to relieve or reduce headaches.

Green tea oil can be used as a perfume but is more commonly found as a home fragrancing oil. The oil can be more expensive and harder to find than other aromatherapy oil, production costs are high and the supply falls short of demand. Some people claim the green tea oil is worth the extra due to its wonderful crisp fresh scent that provides relaxation when used.

Occasionally the green tea oil has been used as an additive in green tea beverages, for added ingestion of green tea benefits, especially in applications towards medical ailments. The green tea oil has become recognized to assist with intestinal infections such as dysentery or gastroenteritis, or more recently been associated with preventing damage to the body in connection with hepatitis. Green tea has also been recognized to counteract heart disease and contain Vitamin P activity which can allows the absorption of Vitamin C, relieve pain, increase circulation through preserved arterial structures, lower the "bad" cholesterol and even have an antibacterial effect on the body. The things are assumed to be the case in the oil as well, since the leaves to make green tea are a bi-product resulting from the seeds.

The oil hasalso been used from ancient beginnings to care for the health of the skin, hair and nails and surely there are many more uses for green tea oil with many more benefits to be had from it.
